Dear Mr. Hancock,
In early June we brought our multi-year search for the right boat to a fun filled conclusion with the purchase of our Sportsman 231 thru Tim Keane and the team at Stone Harbor Marina. To that point, all of our boating experience had been on Lake George. Like most lake boaters, we first explored sport boats as an option. We looked at Regal, Hurricane, Cobalt. Then, realizing we wanted to fish the bays and ocean at the shore, Boston Whaler, Sea Hunt and many other sport and center console configurations. We wanted a boat which would be a great blend of family adventure and fishing; one that would be at home on the Lake where we fish, tube, and snorkel in the many coves throughout the lake, but capable of taking us off shore fishing as well. An ocean going comfortable rough water ride was critical for my son and I. Creature comforts were important for my wife and daughter, who love the bow seating, the bow backrest bolsters and most of all the removable bow lounge backrests! After searching for years, we concluded Sportsman had something for every member of my family. I would say Sportsman builds the highest quality boat at an affordable price. Here’s some pics from a week’s vacation in Lake George. We were excited to complete get back to the Jersey shore for our first offshore adventure to the Townsend Wreck. Wind was blowing 12 to 15mph and seas were 2-3 footers. The boat ate it up. We caught 36 fish (all shorts) and had a blast. Sportsman seems to live by the mantra that expectations and reality should match for their customers; ours have, and it’s been a great ride. When you stop by Stone Harbor Marina, check out our boat; it’s the beautiful Sportsman 231 on B dock in Fighting Lady Yellow – the same boat as the one on Sportsman’s splash page for the 231.
