Air conditioning on boats has never been easier, no more generators and extra fuel. Modern day center consoles can easily be equipped with AC to keep you cool on hot summer days.
Have you ever been offshore fishing in July or August off the coast of Miami with no breeze and it's 100 degrees in the shade? I think most of us can relate to being on the boat when it’s hot and there is no way to cool off. Then you say I also can’t afford a big Sportfish with a cabin and a generator to beat the heat. Here at Sportsman we understand because we fish and take the families out boating, making us think, of better options to make boating more comfortable.
When this problem came to be our design team went into action and we have put an AC system as an option on our Open 322 and Open 352. Both are large enough to accompany the AC system and all of its needed parts and pieces. Now the most common question we get is where is the generator? How can you have an AC without one? Well, it’s quite simple, we did 100s of hours of searching and product testing and found the Dometic Cuddy DC2 Air conditioning unit.
This unit puts off 3500BTUs of cooling power by using a low energy 12v DC powered compressor. It has a stainless-steel base pan, high performance evaporator coil making it very dependable, all in a very compact housing. Paired with the Discover Traction house batteries you can troll all day running your AC without using more power than your engines can replenish. Now while you’re out there you can take that break, go inside drink a water, cool off and be back to new in no time.
This is just another example of how Sportsman is continuously innovating and looking for the best new additions to make your boating experience the best it can be.
