Boat half towers elevate your perspective, offering better views for navigation and fishing.
A common question we receive at shows or dealership events from customers is “What are the most popular options that we may want to consider in our new boat purchase?”
The Answer? A half tower with a second station. Having a second station offers several advantages, making it a desirable feature for anglers and boaters. The half tower with second station is available on our Open 252- Open 322, our Masters Series 247/247OE & 267/267OE, and of course our Heritage 261. Here are some of the most important benefits when looking at a half tower with second station option:
Enhanced Visibility: The elevated position of the second station provides better visibility over the water. This is especially great when navigating through shallow or crowded areas, allowing the captain to spot obstacles, sandbars, or other boats more easily.
Improved Maneuverability: With a second station, the captain gains better control over the boat's movement. They can see the surrounding water more clearly, making it easier to steer and navigate, particularly when docking or maneuvering in tight spaces.
Optimal Fishing Experience: Anglers benefit greatly from the increased visibility offered by the half tower. They can spot fish more effectively, enabling precise casting and better chances of a successful catch. Additionally, the elevated position provides a broader perspective of the fishing area, helping anglers strategize and locate great fishing spots.
Safety and Awareness: Having a second station allows for improved safety measures. The captain can monitor the activities of passengers on board more efficiently and keep an eye out for any potential hazards in the water, enhancing overall safety during boating trips.
Customization and Comfort: Many half towers with second stations are designed with comfort and convenience in mind. They often feature amenities such as seating, additional electronics, and provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for both the captain and passengers.
Cool factor: The benefit of the look of this option on our boats cannot be outweighed. The most popular models you find this option on are of course our Masters 247/247OE and 267/267OE and many of our larger Open series models. When you see a new Sportsman on the water with the half tower with second station, you cannot take your eyes off it.
Comparatively, there are many boat brands that do not offer the option of a half tower with a second station. In doing so, this limits the customers’ options when looking at outfitting one of those brands on the aftermarket side. The issue with this is you may not know if that boat was ever designed with that in mind. Most often, that brand will not have the necessary structure and support throughout the hardtop frame and deck to support a second station with the added weight and stress.
Additionally, when adding a second station to a boat it is important to have that idea thought and planned for in the engineering design phase. Not planning for a second station option can alter the center of gravity on the boat and ultimately the performance characteristics of the boat; with a Sportsman, you will never have to worry about this as every detail has been designed into our world class models.
At Sportsman, we continue to strive for excellence and options like a second station (that many other brands do not offer), make us the preferred choice for serious anglers and boating enthusiasts.
