  • Open 232 and Heritage 231 drew the most interest, showing demand for both a versatile open bow fishing boat and a spacious family cruiser.
  • Attendees asked about engine options, fishing setups, storage capacity and the latest technology, signaling buyers value quality and innovation.
  • The event reinforced the strength of the boating community and the effectiveness of a well organized show for exploring options up close.

I had the pleasure of attending the Columbia Boat Show in Columbia, South Carolina February 21st - 23rd. The event, held from Friday to Sunday at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds, brought together a fantastic crowd of boating enthusiasts eager to explore the latest models and innovations in the industry. With beautiful weather and a strong turnout, the energy throughout the show was contagious.

Mid Carolina Marine, our trusted local dealer, had an incredible presence, showcasing nine Sportsman Boats that drew plenty of attention. Among them, the two models that sparked the most excitement were the Open 232 and Heritage 231. These boats consistently had groups gathered around, with people eager to learn more about their features and availability.

The Open 232, with its open bow design and versatile functionality, was a favorite among those seeking a balance of fishing performance and family-friendly features. Meanwhile, the Heritage 231, known for its spacious layout and comfortable ride, attracted families and those looking for a relaxing day on the water. It was rewarding to see how both models resonated with different buyers, from hardcore anglers to weekend cruisers.

One of the best parts of the weekend was engaging with attendees and hearing what excited them most. From seasoned boaters to first-time buyers, the variety of people and their unique needs made every conversation interesting. There were plenty of questions about engine options, fishing setups, storage capacity, and the latest technology, proving that today’s buyers are focused on quality, reliability, and innovation when choosing their next boat.

The show itself was well-organized, with an intuitive layout that made it easy to explore booths and check out boats up close. Visitors seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves, whether they were shopping for their next boat, gathering information, or simply soaking in the boating lifestyle.

It’s always great to be part of events like this—ones that bring together passionate boaters, dedicated dealers, and industry professionals. The Columbia Boat Show was another reminder of the strength of the boating community, the excitement surrounding new innovations, and the joy of connecting with people who share the same love for life on the water.

See you on the water!
