The wait is finally over. After months of teasers and behind-the-scenes updates from The Sportsman Insider, the all-new Open 402 has officially made its debut at the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS). This is the largest and most advanced boat Sportsman has ever built, and for the first time, we’re showcasing the finished model to the world — right here in this special episode.

Introducing the Flagship of the Sportsman Fleet

The Open 402 represents the start of Sportsman 3.0 — our next-generation design language and the foundation for all future models. Measuring 40’4” with a 13’ beam and 650-gallon fuel capacity, it’s built for performance, luxury, and range. This model delivers the innovation and craftsmanship expected from Sportsman, taken to a new level.

At the helm, twin Garmin GPSMAP 9227 displays are paired with a Garmin UltraWide in the hardtop, offering unmatched visibility and system awareness. SeaStar Interact DCM digital switching brings modern control to every function, while JL Audio M6 speakers with Fusion Apollo technology deliver premium, tuned sound both on plane and at rest.

Designed for Comfort and Capability

The Open 402’s bow easily transitions from a luxurious lounge to a serious fishing setup. An electric bow table raises for dining and drops to form a full sunpad, while a Vetus bow thruster and abundant storage make operation effortless.

Midship, four premium helm seats sit over a fiberglass leaning post with a rear mezzanine and optional refrigerated seat. The optional Release Marine teak chairs offer heated and cooled comfort for long days on the water.

Aft, twin 40-gallon pressurized livewells, four massive insulated fish boxes, and a Seakeeper Ride 750 come standard, with an optional Seakeeper 4.5 gyro available for unmatched stability. Every system, from the Reverso automatic outboard flushing to the Fisher Panda 8KW generator, has been engineered for simplicity, reliability, and luxury.

A Cabin You’ll Actually Use

Below deck, the 402’s cabin redefines what’s possible in a center console. A convertible queen berth, full galley, enclosed head and shower, and 10,000 BTU air conditioning create a true overnight or day-trip retreat. A Garmin 9210 display inside the cabin allows full vessel control without ever leaving the comfort of the berth.

The Open 402 is more than a new model — it’s the next evolution of the Sportsman brand. It embodies our commitment to innovation, attention to detail, and a lifestyle built around the days that matter.
