  • The SeaKeeper Gyro dramatically reduces boat motion for a smoother ride, cutting seasickness during offshore fishing
  • It improves stability and handling, enabling better targeting and casting in rough conditions
  • Best suited for offshore and bottom fishing with a dedicated pod, but may not be ideal for inshore cruising due to size and installation needs

What is a SeaKeeper Gyro?

A SeaKeeper Gyro is a sophisticated stabilization device designed to reduce the pitch, roll, and yaw of a boat. By utilizing gyroscopic technology, it counteracts the motion of the waves, providing a smoother and more comfortable ride. The SeaKeeper Gyro 2, installed on our Open 302, significantly enhances stability and comfort in rough waters. When idling or at anchor, the gyro counteracts the boat's motion, minimizing pitch and roll. This is particularly beneficial for those engaged in offshore fishing, such as bottom fishing or trolling. However, due to its size and installation requirements, it may not be the ideal choice for inshore cruising or sandbar hopping.

Key Benefits of the SeaKeeper Gyro:

The SeaKeeper Gyro offers several key benefits for boaters. It enhances comfort by reducing seasickness and fatigue, making fishing trips more enjoyable. Additionally, the gyro improves stability, providing a more controlled and predictable boat handling experience. This increased stability allows for better targeting and casting in rough conditions, leading to increased fishing efficiency. Finally, the SeaKeeper Gyro helps protect equipment by minimizing damage to gear and electronics.

Ideal Applications:

The SeaKeeper Gyro is designed to provide a stable platform for various fishing activities. It is particularly effective for offshore fishing, where it can help maintain stability in challenging deep-sea conditions. Additionally, the SeaKeeper Gyro is ideal for bottom fishing, as it ensures precise anchoring and fishing. For sportfishing, the gyro enhances the overall experience by providing a smoother and more comfortable ride for both anglers and passengers.

To accommodate the gyro, we've incorporated a dedicated pod into the boat's design. This pod not only houses the gyro but also provides additional storage space for a 5-gallon bucket and various accessories like a stern anchor holder, fire extinguisher, and rope.

Conclusion

If you're seeking a more comfortable and enjoyable offshore fishing experience, the SeaKeeper Gyro is a valuable investment. By significantly reducing boat motion, it can transform your time on the water.
