The Heritage 261 combines family comfort, sandbar-focused innovation and fishing capability into one of the most versatile boats in the Sportsman lineup. Learn how the Heritage 261 blends SportTech® construction, SportLink® technology and thoughtful design for unforgettable days on the water.

The Sportsman Specs series is all about looking beyond the specifications and understanding what makes each model unique. The Heritage 261 takes everything owners love about the Heritage Series and expands it into a larger, more capable platform designed around family boating, entertaining and spending as much time on the water as possible.
In many ways, the Heritage 261 feels like the point where the Heritage lineup truly comes into its own. It delivers significantly more space, range and capability than smaller models while maintaining the easygoing, family-focused personality that has made the series so popular. Whether you're cruising the Intracoastal Waterway, spending the day at the sandbar, pulling water toys or heading offshore for a fishing trip, the Heritage 261 is designed to handle it all.
At 26 feet 6 inches in length with a 9 foot 5 inch beam, the Heritage 261 provides a noticeable increase in space throughout the boat. The wider beam creates more room at the helm, larger seating areas and significantly more cockpit space while also improving stability at rest. With Yacht Certification, the Heritage 261 is designed to comfortably accommodate large groups of family and friends without feeling crowded.
What truly separates the Heritage 261 from many boats in this size category is its focus on life around the water. Sportsman describes the Heritage 261 as an "all-family, all-cruising, all-fun" platform, and that philosophy is visible throughout the layout. Deep U-shaped bow seating surrounds an electronically actuated table that can quickly convert the bow from a dining area into a large lounge space. At the stern, edge-to-edge seating creates room for up to five passengers while dual transom walkthrough doors and aft-facing seating make sandbar days even more enjoyable.
One of the standout features of the Heritage 261 is its unique sandbar-focused design. Dual side entry doors, dual boarding ladders, integrated swim platforms and an exterior-access sandbar cooler make getting in and out of the water easier than ever. The result is a boat that feels purpose-built for the way many families actually spend their time on the water.
Performance and range take a significant step forward as well. The Heritage 261 carries 182 gallons of fuel capacity with approximately 164 gallons usable, allowing owners to comfortably venture farther from the dock and spend longer days on the water. With up to 450 horsepower available through either twin-engine or single-engine configurations, the Heritage 261 delivers strong performance while still maintaining the efficiency needed for all-day boating adventures.
The hull itself is designed to strike a balance between comfort and versatility. A 22-degree deadrise at the transom gives the Heritage 261 a softer ride in chop and rougher water while still maintaining the stability and predictability that family boaters appreciate. With a 22-inch draft, the boat remains capable of exploring shallower coastal waters while offering the confidence needed for larger bodies of water.
Like every Sportsman, the Heritage 261 is built using SportTech® advanced fabrication methods with 100 percent composite construction and a fiberglass stringer system. With no wood in the build, the structure is designed for long-term durability and consistency while providing the solid feel Sportsman owners have come to expect.
At the helm, the Heritage 261 benefits from SportLink® integration, bringing Garmin electronics, digital switching, engine data and onboard systems together into a centralized interface. All Sportsman Boats come standard with Garmin electronics and Garmin VHF radios, giving owners modern navigation and communication capabilities right from the factory. The result is a helm that feels clean, intuitive and easy to operate whether you're running offshore or cruising through busy waterways.
While the Heritage 261 was designed with family fun in mind, Sportsman didn't forget its fishing roots. Dual 16-gallon aquarium livewells, in-deck fish boxes, rod storage, freshwater and raw water washdowns and open cockpit space ensure the boat remains fully capable when it's time to fish. The Heritage 261 successfully bridges the gap between dedicated family cruiser and serious fishing platform without forcing owners to choose between the two.
The Heritage 261 embodies the modern Heritage Series philosophy. It combines family comfort, innovative water-access features, strong performance and fishing capability into a platform built around creating memorable days on the water. For owners looking for a boat that can do a little bit of everything exceptionally well, the Heritage 261 delivers one of the most versatile experiences in the Sportsman lineup.
